This Kiamara grew up in an environment that barely let them be themselves - their interests and happiness were often belittled and ignored, and they often stayed in the shadow because of that. There were no safe space for them to do whatever they want. When they became older, they obviously started to 'misbehave' and try to express themselves as they want to, to catch up with their childhood - engage in activities they wanted, meet new people, learn new things that weren't talked out at home. During this adventure they figured out they might be queer, which suddenly made so many things fall into place. There was a word for what they felt! Better, there are other folks who feel that way, too! What a relief! This made them experiment with their new self, but with a small price; as they still live with their family, they decided to not be extremely obvious to not get into trouble and only dye the back of their hair so the colorful parts are not visible. When they visit their friends they can be themselves around, they purposely tie their hair to make sure all the colors of the rainbow are shown. It's not a permanent solution, but it works! And they can express themselves at least a little until they figure things out.
